Life in the Studio

In the Studio 10/4/08    In the Studio 10/4/08

Well, I'm back in the studio.

I had my 3 year old niece last night and today and we had lots of fun. Today we went to Chick-fil-A and Hobby Lobby and the bookstore, 3 of her favorite places to go. She was such an angel today and usually is when she's is one on one with someone (she can get a little crazy when she's more than one adult with her . . . not sure why).

I've about decided to try to do a show in December so I am going to be pretty busy the next month and a half. I have done lots of sketching and brainstorming for new products and can't wait to get them completed to show them off.

Making Plans

Happy Friday!!

Nothing really new happening. I have been working on plans to re-do my studio as soon as our loft addition gets finished. We're getting closer so I'm getting anxious to get things going. My hope is that around Christmas, I'll be able to work on it and hopefully have it finished by the end of the year. Wouldn't it be great to start a new year with a fresh and newly organized space?

Here is my color scheme and floor plan:
Studio Colors

The smokey blue is going to be my wall color and the other colors are accent colors.

If you have pics of your workspace, leave a comment with a link. I would love to see how others have organized and decorated their spaces.

Have a great weekend!!

Wonderland

Have you heard?!?!
Tim Burton started filming Alice in Wonderland! I am soooo excited! Now I just have to wait a year and a half.

This news has inspired me to work on a Wonderland inspired line. Be watching the shop, the new line will probably come out after the first of the year.

Boo Y'all!

Oh, Ms. Blog how I've missed you so. But, you see, I have been a very busy girl. Between custom orders, designing new products, re-stocking French Cowgirl, and trying to get organized before the Christmas rush, I just haven't had time for you. And for that, I am truly sorry.

So, Halloween is right around the corner and while I don't really care for the truly scary things, I do love spookishly elegant decor.

One of the things I did this weekend was stocked the French Cowgirl with some exclusive Halloween goodies. If you live in the area, stop in and pick up a couple (or more) of these:

There are some scary things going on in my studio this weekend. I've been busy designing and creating lots of halloween goodies.

Tomorrow is the OU game. I think we'll probably be down in Norman all day then it's back to work in the studio on Sunday.

A Beautiful Day

Today was a beautiful day . . . too bad I had to spend the day stuck in an office. At least tomorrow is Friday, which means off work at 3pm and 2 days of freedom!

Oh yeah, I got this cryptic email from my hubby this morning. This is how it went:

DH:  Our seats are in section 38, row 25, seats 9 and 10.

Me:  Um, seats to what??

DH:  The OU game silly.   <Like I was suppose to read his mind?!>

Me:  Did you tell me this as I was falling asleep last night? When did this happen??

DH:  Nope just found out this morning . . . a guy at work gave them to me.  (Huh!?!?)

Husbands, you gotta love 'em but YAYYY! I'm going to an OU football game (now a luxury as the tickets are so expensive since they've been in the top 10 for the last few years.

GO SOONERS!

Chasing Rainbows

Today was Tuesday but it sooo felt like a Monday. It started off waking up not feeling like I slept at all. Work was not that great either . . . had to deal with negative whiny co-workers, who thankfully are in another office thousands of miles away. However, on my way home there was a beautiful rainbow that kind of took that all away. As I kept driving, I saw many more rainbows but unfortunately didn't have a camera soooo how about some cool clouds?

My not so great Tuesday may have something to do with my fairly productive weekend in the studio. I started on my Halloween products . . . you know you want them, so go here to get them.

Randomness

Life has been crazy busy since my last post. We've done some re-decorating and worked on finishing our loft (still not complete) I've hosted a baby shower, welcomed a new nephew, and worked tirelessly in the studio (when not doing all the other stuff mentioned above). My day job has kept me pretty busy too . . . and Oh yeah, I FINALLY got well after being sick for a little over a month!!!!

Until then, be watching my Etsy shop for holiday items.

EEEK! Mice!

So last week, when I was getting ready for work I started hearing this scratching noise. Following the noise, I ended up in the new office adjacent to the laundry room. It seriously sounded like my 60 pound Australian Shepherd was upstairs or in the attic scratching the crap out of the floor, only he wasn't upstairs. What the heck?! Was there some large critter up there?

As I'm standing in the middle of the room staring at the ceiling, my Austrailan Shepherd sleepily (he's not a morning dog) came down to see what I was doing. I'm sure he was thinking I was crazy standing in the middle of the room staring at the ceiling? But then the scratching began again and at that point, he too was staring at the ceiling with his ears perked up and his head cocked to the side. He heard it too! Too bad he couldn't speak to be my witness because when I told my hubby about it, he didn't believe me! We listened for days and never heard the scratching again. Well, last night, hubby was upstairs in the loft and I went to ask him a question. While standing at the bottom of the stairs, I noticed this!

Critters in the Attic

The flash on my camera made this much clearer than what I saw but my first thought, because all I could see was black, was that it was mold . . . but how could it be mold? It's a brand new wall?! After finding something to prod with, I discovered it was a HOLE! HELLO! That must have been what I heard! Guess what? Hubby still didn't believe me! So, I went on to bed and a few minutes later, he came to tell me that he had found another smaller hole in our broom closet (which is also part of the new addition). I think he believes me know because we are going to buy some traps tonight.

No time to be Sick!

Whew! It's been a long week. Sit back and relax, this could be a long post.

I think I finally got my house back together after the tiling project.

New Tile Kitchen

This is the kitchen. Before we moved the appliances back, I wanted to paint behind the fridge. You like the color? It's called Deep Walnut. Hopefully, the rest will be painted this weekend.

New Tile - Laundry Room

This is the laundry room. See that horrible green paint? It's going to change to Bonjour Beige (which is the color in the other room that you can see through the doorway). That green never worked for me . . . what was I thinking!?

Saturday night, my sister, her family, and hubby and I took a short road trip to Pops located on Route 66 in Arcadia Oklahoma. This place has over 500 choices of Soda (for those of you in the North) AKA Coke (for those of us in the South)

The food was pretty good . . . not sure if it was worth the hour and a half wait but the experience was worth it.

Sunday was grocery store and cleaning day. I spent most of the day cleaning up and evidently stirring up some dust because by Sunday night, my throat was killing me. By 4:30 am Monday Morning I had aches and chills. I could not miss work that day or any other day for the next month because we have new employees from one of our overseas offices in for training! Well, after getting to work late on Monday, I made it through the rest of the day . . . barely. When I got home I went straight to bed which I think helped because yesterday, I felt much better. That is, until I woke up this morning. The entire left side of my face felt like an elephant had been sitting on it. Now I'm hacking up my lungs and praying that the dear doctor calls me back tomorrow to let me know that they've called in the big guns . . . Anitbiotics.

Another reason why I can't be sick is because my sister's baby shower is in 2 1/2 weeks and I still needed to finish the invitations! Thankfully, I got them in the mail today.

Oh-Baby!

I'm also working on some custom orders. Can you tell? My desk needs some serious help! How do I do anything in this room is beyond me.

So, you see, I don't have time to be sick so be gone with you, you bad germs!
